Minimize turf

  • Replacing water-guzzling turf with water-wise grasses and plants can save you up to 40% on your annual water bill.
  • Turfgrass uses more water than drought-tolerant, Florida-friendly plants
  • Type of turf matters also.  Bahia and Empire Zoysia are more drought-tolerant, easier to maintain, cost less, use less water, and use less fertilizer than Saint Augustine grass.
  • How to: See www.floridayards.org to determine best landscaping practices, or consult a Florida Friendly Yards landscaper.
