How to hand-wash dishes »« Use low flow showerheads

Wash full loads of dishes

  • The average dishwasher uses 6 gallons of water.  Don’t run the dishwasher before it is full so you don’t have to run it multiple times.
  • Scrape dishes of food scraps immediately after using them, rinse using minimal water, then load.  Make sure dishes have enough room to get washed.
  • Use light cycle if not heavily soiled.
